Mr. Garrett is an award-winning music educator who brings the energy of a working musician and the patience of a veteran teacher. He's started thriving rock band programs, helped students land lead roles in musicals, and guided students to winning awards. He also creates music-learning resources for kids.
His approach is simple: create a place where students can be themselves, try something new, and keep going when something doesn’t land. Along the way, students practice creativity, independence, and critical listening and thinking.

How much do lessons cost?
Regular lessons cost $50 for 45 minutes, once per week. Your first trial lesson is free and lasts 30 minutes.
Do students need their own instrument?
Yes. Students should have their own instrument for lessons and practice. Ukuleles are available to rent or purchase. Ask Mr. Garrett about options. If you’re unsure what to buy, talk with him before purchasing. He's more than happy to help!
Which instruments do you teach?
Guitar, Bass Guitar, Ukulele, Violin, Viola, Mandolin, Tenor Banjo, 5-String Banjo, and Piano. If you don't see the instrument you want listed, ask Mr. Garrett if he can teach it. The answer might be yes!
Can my child start with no experience?
Absolutely. Lessons can start with the basics and progress at your child’s pace. The free trial is a chance to explore their interests and see whether lessons feel like a good fit.
What ages are lessons for?
Mr. Garrett generally works with students from second grade through middle and high school, and older. Younger students are considered individually; share your child’s age when you inquire.
Do you serve my part of DFW?
We pride ourselves on our flexibility! We’re open to most of the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Exact availability depends on travel and scheduling. Send your location and preferred times so we can explore the possibilities.
Is Mr. Garrett background-checked and insured?
Yes. Mr. Garrett is a Texas-certified teacher, which requires a fingerprint-based criminal history check, and he is insured for in-home lessons. He has 10 years of classroom teaching experience. Read more about Mr. Garrett.
